Version 1.5 -- 19 May 2003:
Security release...
Conversion to pair.com and added security to protect raw document files.
Version 1.2 -- 6 Dec 97:
Support for vision-impaired users...
A new index of documents has been added in order to support non-graphical text
browsers. It turns out that the form-laden top page of the Ape was too complex to
follow with most test-only browsers. The new index page
seeks to solve that issue by providing a link-based list of supported documents.
In addition, to facilitate searching each of these documents, the Ape now adds a
simplified search form to the top of each document whenever that document was
displayed in it's entirety.
Version 1.1 -- 5 Mar 97:
Clean-up release...
Some typos have been cleaned up. The script should be a bit faster for long text
files and searches which return many hits. Added the 'quote' command. Improved
and added to the HowTo documentation. Added a new
'Crowley-only' pseudo-document.
Version 1.0 -- 2 Mar 97:
First public release...
Added search/screen mode to concordance function. Additional texts added and
a 'Holy Books Only' pseudo-text created. Linking from search/random/concord
pages has been improved. Numerous minor bug fixes and speed-ups.
26 Feb 97:
Major re-write of some of the collateral text files. Additional Holy Books
added, as well as a 'Class A only' combined entry.
24 Feb 97:
Additional Holy Books converted and the name changed to the 'Ape of Thoth'
in order to avoid possible legal complications. Several minor bugs with the
concordance feature were fixed.
16 Feb 97:
Beta test version of the script (originally named the Delphi Oracle Server)
is released to three first-tier evaluators. All advertised features have
been implemented and tested but the text database is not complete and has
not been proofread. Expect mistakes. If you find errors in the content or
formatting of the texts (stops as thou wilt), report them to
the author.
