About the Author
This page is a blatant display of personal ego. If listening to someone talk about themselves makes you ill, then go back and check out some of the other cool stuff on this site. On the other hand, if you're curious about what kind of person would compile such an odd collection of stuff, then read on.
When I started this page back in 1995, I really had no idea what to put on the top level page. At that time I didn't have much material to publish so I just ranted on a bit about myself. Over the years I found other stuff which was more interesting and which deserved top-page placement but I always left some version of the personal information. Well, this page is my first attempt to rectify the situation by giving the personal stuff a seperate corner of the site.
A Brief History:
I was born in 1956 in Detroit, Michigan (USA). I lived in Michigan up until the time I graduated from Wayne State University. By that time, I had grown tired of the cold winters of the Northeatern United States so I accepted a job offer in California. I lived and worked in various places around Los Angeles for about 15 years. Early on in that period, I was introduced to Scientology and, a few years later, graduated from that system. I ended up getting involved with various Thelemic groups, even running Baphomet Lodge, Ordo Templi Orientis for a couple of years.
Over time, I became interested in Japan and when my life in Los Angeles began to fall apart, I decided to try living abroad for a while. First, however, I had to pay my dues by moving to New Jersey for a couple years. From there I was finally transferred to Tokyo where I has a wonderful time and met many friends. While I was there, I ended up marrying (partly out of boredom and partly out of frustration), which turned out to be a huge mistake. After a couple years in Tokyo, I returned to California -- only this time to the San Jose (Silicon Valley) area.
Mostly my life right now is kinda private. A while back I prepared a list of questions
in the form of a FAQ that has just about all of the personal
information that I'm willing to part with at this point. If you have any questions,
feel free to
Employment:
My current employer is also to be kept a mystery for now. Suffice it to say that I am still in the EDA industry. Having had my resume online for nearly five years now, I get a lot of e-mail asking for interviews or an updated resume. About 80% of the employment-related messages are for jobs that don't match my experience in the least, usually generated by some kind of keyword-matching software program.
If you're reading this because you're a recruiter and you're wondering whether or not I might be available to look at your opening (er... position...), take a look at the availability question in my Frequently Asked Questions page.
