What's changed recently on this WebSite
I started this page to give former readers of my page a chance to keep track
of all the changes I have made to make this WebSite more useful and more
efficient. If you have any comments as to how I could make this site more
interesting, feel free to write me,
as I would like to think that I am not putting all this work into the site
just for my own aggrandizement.
What's new?
23 Sep 2005:
Released completely new layout. New page source is written in XML
and translated on the server. This should make it easier for me to
maintain the content -- thus making it more likely the content will
be updated on a regular basis.
22 Dec 99:
Beta release of my newly reconstructed web site. Initial release will only
include the mirror at best.com
but the other sites below will follow by the end of 1999. Happy Y2K!
15 Oct 99:
Anyone who's watching the "Last updated" dates at the top of the pages
may have noticed that most of the pages got updated recently. Well, the
content is the same, for the most part, but today I brought online the
new templating and make-driven build system. This resulted in a rewrite
of the majority of the pages on this site. Sorry for the confusion.
The E-mail annoyances page was revised and a
new testimonial from a reader was added.
25 Aug 99...:
Major reconstruction of the entire web site. The current sphaghetti of links
will gradually be replaced by a heirarchical structure that will make it much
easier to find related material and much faster to load pages. Fourteen new
web pages will be added as part of this expansion. Also a new look will be
used for the top-level page.
10 Aug 99:
On this, the anniversary of the infamous PTS bulletin, a new method of
generating these web pages has been put online. Although extensive
testing has been done, please report any
problems with the contents or layout of the pages. Now that I've finished
my web page compiler, I'll start working on updating the contents for the
first time in two years.
7 Jun 97:
Finally finished my Sobering Advice for anyone
contemplating a cross-cultural marriage.
Added a hit log
onto my web page at Best. It is one
day delayed so don't try to run the count up just to see if it works
(yes, this includes you JimB).
Cleaned up the karaoke index page and
put the karaoke pages onto the site map.
28 May 97:
Significant clean-up of the karaoke lyrics
which I also moved to a page of its own.
Significant additions and clean-up of my favorite
places and links pages. In particular, I updated
my list of personal favorite stuff
and added a picture of Lynn Minmay (not on the text-only site at CRL).
There are a few more surprises which are not yet ready for release but can
be found if you snoop around.
3 May 97:
Finished (for now) the Cynic's Guide to Visiting
Japan. As part of that effort, a new
Japan-related links page was added to my
favorite places collection.
Started putting my romanized karaoke
lyrics online.
8 Apr 97:
Began converting my
CRL site to text-only for graphics-challenged and/or disabled
readers.
Added cross-links between my three sites and cosmetic changes.
8 Apr 97:
Happy 93rd anniversary of the writing of the Book of the Law.
Added a link to Local 7 of
the Telecommunications Workers Union (they now have a link to my Home
Page as well).
5 Apr 97:
General format clean-up of the sub-parts of my home page.
Minor data updates on some pages (nothing earthshattering).
Added holiday list to Cynic's Guide.
2 Apr 97:
Re-arranged my Home Page and added a stern
warning to those who would use my address for unsolicited advertising
(not that they actually read the page first). Spammers be
warned -- I report all unsolicited mass-distribution e-mail.
Added a lot of links to my favorite places
page and straightened out the Japan section, and wrote more of the
Cynic's Guide to Visiting Japan.
31 Mar 97:
Added links to my Scientology web page for
the controversy over the takeover of the Cult Awareness Network.
Added a links page to list the other web
pages known to have links to this WebSite
Changed the spelling of 'web site' to WebSite when referring to this
set of pages. This reflects the growing uniqueness of the site and
constant enlargement of the associated part of my ego... );o
26 Mar 97:
Broke my top-level Home Page into several
parts for faster loading (now the images need some compression). I
also made some changes in my WebSite maintenance script and spent
far more time than I expected getting the minor bugs out of all my
pages and the cross-site links.
Added a U.T.Lexar Alumni Reunion Page.
Fixed the unnumbered lists so they render correctly in MSIE (which, in
my opinion, has a subtle bug in it's rendering of lists with headers).
Added the first cut at a
Platform Statement for
Thelemic New Conservatism.
20 Mar 97:
Added the new 'Scientology Never' button to my standard footer.
Moved the large banners on my Home Page to a
separate page to improve download time.
Brought the site map up to date.
Fixed a few typos and made other general improvements. (I'm cheating,
I really did this one yesterday.)
15 Mar 97:
Debut of the
Thelemic New Conservatism page (at
best.com).
Aleister Crowley's Duty is now online.
Added a basic
HTML Reference page for beginners.
12 Mar 97:
Finally got my HTML preprocessor running so now I can have unique mail-to links
and other features on my three sites. In particular, look for the references to
Global Online, Japan to disappear from my CRL and BEST sites. Also, the form to
register for URL-minder will register the proper page.
Added pictures of my
two sons in Japan.
Added random Liber220 quote to my BEST site. Actually, this was added last week
as an experiment but was only 'released' today.
4 Mar 97:
Added a
site map of the WebSites I maintain. Fixed a number
of list-header problems.
Added a link to the
Ape of Thoth
(a Thelemic Text Daemon).
Significant changes and additions to my
favorite places page.
Added a mirror to Jeff Jacobsen's
Lisa McPherson Memorial Page
Added a prominent link to the CIEC's
Countdown to the Supreme Court
17 Feb 97:
Re-wrote and improved my own
anti-spam and anti-hoax page.
Cleaned up my
favorite places page.
Moved my personal
guestbook
to my own website (thanks go out to Greg of the
Temple of Thelema for hosting my guestbook
until I found a provider who allows user CGI scripts).
11 Feb 97:
Added links on
Scientology page, Twain quote on home page.
4 Feb 97:
Added a local counter to replace the ever-busy one at digits.com.
Also removed the hidden onLoad form from my homepage (apologies to anyone who may
have been inconvenienced by what started out as a nifty experiment in HTML).
15 Jan 97:
Introduced my Cynic's Guide to Visiting Japan.
13 Jan 97:
Broke out this "what's new" page and the Scientology
page to separate HTML files. The top-level page is finally starting to get
smaller.
6 Jan 97:
Added link to my new
guestbook
and cleaned up this top page somewhat.
6 Dec 96:
Added more Confessions quotes to
Aleister Crowley's Home Page.
12 Nov 96:
Split my favorite places
page into a top index and six separate parts to improve loading speed.
28 Oct 96:
Added this "What's new?" column in preparation for even bigger changes.
Beam me up, Scotty...
